Alicante, 30th July 2012
A total of 4,170 new students have enrolled in the 42 study programmes offered by the University of Alicante, by 26th July, when the registration period for those who achieved a place in the June after taking the entrance exam to the University ended. This figure is going to be increased considerably, between 27 and 30 July as a result of new registrations to be made as a result of the vacancies, following the movements on the waiting list.
At the June phase of entrance examinations to the University, where over 93% of the vacancies offered have been allocated, the Nursing Programme at the University of Alicante has been, this year again, the one generating greater waiting, with 1,252 candidates aspiring for the general quota system. Furthermore, it should be noted that this study programme is positioned as the second graduate programme with the highest cut-off mark with 10.87. Translation and Interpreting (English) is the one with the highest cut-off mark with 11.31. Third, with 10.32 as cut-off mark, is the Programme in Law and Business Administration, then Marine Science, with a minimum score of 9.68 and in the fifth position, Physical Education and Sport, with a required score of 9.59 to its applicants.
Master's Programme in Primary Education, with 825 applicants on the waiting list, Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, with a total of 691 applicants and the Master's in Early Childhood Education, with 681 applicants in the waiting list are the three degrees who have placed the second, third and fourth place in the top five with increased demand for pre-registration in June 2012, respectively. The fifth among the most requested, the Degree in Criminology, has reached the figure 496 applicants.
The entrance examinations to the university in the September phase, will be performed from 11th to 13th of that month. Subsequently, a new registration period will be opened presumably from 1st to 5th October, preceding the period of waiting lists mobements, for 8th to 10th October. This new edition will provide an opportunity both to pass the tests to those did not in June, and to get better grades to enable them to choose vacant places that are free, as a result of the vacants and movements lists in the previous call.
