The month of April the Jane Goodall Institute offers the "I Primatology IJG course: biology, ethology and conservation" at the University of Alicante within the framework of the Chair Jane Goodall. Aimed at students of biology, psychology, and public in general interested in deepening the knowledge of this fascinating group of animals. It will be taught by the IJGE primatologists with experience in Africa. On this occasion, is offered the possibility of carrying out a practical in a zoological Center part with different species of primates. During the month of may, The Jane Goodall Chair of the University of Alicante develops a new initiative of environmental education addressed to students of ESO and offered free of charge to institutions of secondary education. With the title "protecting chimpanzees, would you like?", the Chair wants to encourage the participation of high school students that runs the motto "We have the choice to use the gift of our lives to make the world a better place".
The director of the Chair, Germán López, asserts that it is essential to provide such activities to the IES to carry out environmental awareness and disseminate programs that carry out the Institute Jane Goodall Spain, institution that is also part of the Jane Goodall of the University of Alicante's Chair.
The main objective of the activity is to educate students about global environmental problems, using as a reference the current threats facing populations of chimpanzees that are Institute Jane Goodall Spain study scope. This activity is intended to generate a change of habits in students to create environmentally responsible citizens and encourage the formation of groups of local activism.
Neus stele, alumnus of UA, biologist and Master in education, is in charge of developing this activity with the institutes of secondary education that request it. Neus was awarded a grant by the Department last year to travel to Senegal and work there in the development of programmes of sensitization and environmental education with the local communities of peoples it works on the Jane Goodall Institute in that country.
Failed the II Prize Jane Goodall of conservation biology and environmental ethics that it gives the chair Jane Goodall of the University of Alicante and the Instituto Jane Goodall Spain, placed on Carmen Vidal, Spanish veterinary working in Congo.
In the program "Spanish for the world" which issued the first chain of TVE on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 and who tried to Senegal, are photos of the projects of the Institute Jane Goodall Spain (IJGE) in Dindefelo, presented by Ferrán Guallar, President of the IGJE, and Liliana Pachecoresearcher of the IJGE, and with participation of Neus Estela, student scholarship from the Jane Goodall Chair in the call for 2011.
