The concept of "recognition" has substituted, in the studies of degree, to the ancient concept of validation/adaptation.
"The recognition of credits is the acceptance by a university of the credits that, having been obtained in some official educations, in the same or another university, are computed in other distinct to effects of the obtaining of an official title" (RD 1393/2007. Art. 6)
That is to say, it is the acceptance of asignaturas surpassed in some university studies when the student accesses to a new degree.

The art. 6 of the Royal decree 1393/2007 defines the concept of transfer of credits of the following way:
"The transfer of credits involves that, in the academic documents supporting officials of the educations gone on down each student, will include the whole of the credits obtained in official educations cursadas previously, in the same or another university, that have not driven to the obtaining of an official title"
It treats that in the final file of the student and in the European Supplement to the Title (SET) appear no only the asignaturas cursadas in his degree or the asignaturas recognised but also those other asignaturas and/or matters that the student there was cursado in official studies and that did not go object of recognition.
The asignaturas and/or matters transferred will not compute for the baremación of the academic file.
Rule:
The criteria that the universities have to follow to the hour to recognise credits by asignaturas surpassed in other official studies are collected in the Royal decree 1393/2007 (and back modifications), arts. 6 and 13.
The universities will have to elaborate and make public his rule of recognition and transfer of credits in accordance with the general criteria included in the Royal decree.
The general criteria of recognition of credits are the following;
To the students of diplomaturas, degrees, etc. that they change to the title of degree that have come to substitute to his studies, will apply them the "picture of adaptation" for the recognition of asignaturas.

The Royal decree 861/2010 that modifies the Royal decree 1393/2007 gives a new editorial to the article 13 establishing the following:
Art. 13. To) "Whenever the title to the that pretends access belong to the same branch of knowledge, will be object of recognition at least 36 corresponding credits to matters of basic training of said branch".
A student that initiate a title of degree and later obtain square in another title of degree of the same branch of knowledge will see recognised at least 36 credits of basic matters of the branch of knowledge.
Besides it will be able to recognise the rest of basic matters that have surpassed, asignaturas compulsory and optativas with competitions and common contents and transversal matters.
They will recognise the matters of basic training surpassed common to both plans of study.
The rest of matters (compulsory and optativas) will recognise in function of the similarity in competitions and knowledges purchased between asignaturas of both plans.
They will recognise the transversal matters (level of language)
To the students that access to studies of degree from the ancient degrees (diplomaturas, degrees, etc.) will recognise them the corresponding credits to asignaturas with similar associated knowledges.

The applications of recognition of credits will present in the office of the centre (empower / university school) that gives the plan of studies to the that have accessed the student.
The term of presentation of applications of recognition will establish each academic course. Usually, coinciding with the ordinary terms of matrícula.
The applications of recognition of credits will have to go accompany of the following documentation;
The applications will resolve by the Commission of Centre of Recognition of credits and the resolution will notify of way expresses in the term of a once finalised month the term of presentation of applications.
The resolutions of the Commissions of Centre of Recognition of Credits will be able to demand in front of the same commission in the term of 10 skillful days. Once resolved the claim will be able to present resource in front of the Commission of District.
Validation/adaptation are concepts related with the incorporation of asignaturas inside the ancient degrees of degrees, diplomaturas, etc.

If the student changes to the same plan of studies in distinct university will adapt him the asignaturas troncales entirely surpassed. The rest of asignaturas (compulsory and optativas) will adapt in function of the similarity in the contents. They will incorporate him the credits of free election that appear in his file. If the student accesses to a different degree, will validate him the asignaturas surpassed that they have content and load lectiva equivalent with asignaturas of the plan of studies to the that have accessed. It is the procedure by means of which a student with university foreign studies totals or partial can request continue the same studies or equivalents in Spain.
The applications of admission by this road will be resolved by the Rector of the University of Alicante in accordance with the criteria that the Council of Government of the UA has established for this procedure.
