University protocol in Spain, is the harmonic result of the interplay between the tradition, the concept and structure of the Government and the corresponding legislation. The general and university socio-political structure are characterized by the adaptation, sometimes subtle, of the customs and practices to the new situations, something that legislation cannot entirety cover. This is why the presence of specialized offices dealing with these tasks are becoming more necessary in the Spanish University.
The Office of Protocol at the University of Alicante, begins its life as such, in early 1998. Since then, there have been increasing its missions significantly.
