"Francia de Hoy" (France of Today) was an interesting radio contest of the Spanish radio broadcasts of the French Radio-Television, issued with the sponsorship of the Cité-Club Universitaire of Paris (presumably academic body of which we have hardly found any information). The running of the contest was simple: during a period of time previously fixed, the emisora established a subject, and the listeners that wanted to take part had to send a composition about it. When the period of reception of texts finished, a jury consisting of executives of "Radio París" and the Cité-Club chose the winners; hence, it was a participation "on deferred", through the ordinary post. The scope of the contest varied as so did its editions. It was usually aimed at the residents in France (French, but especially Spanish), although in occasions it extended to the listeners who lived in Spain, and even to the ones in diverse countries of Latin America.
Regarding the prizes, they were usually based in the granting of scholarships for assistance to courses, either in Paris, in the Provence, in Spain, or in some centres of Latin America, according to the rules mentioned above. They were generally courses for the improvement of the language (French for Spanish speakers, Spanish for French people). On the other hand, although the scholarships of the stay consisted of a month of length, and were usually conceded to the three better interventions of each edition of the program, there were cases in which the three prizes were brought together in an only scholarship for an only winner. That is to say, although the dynamics were usually the same in all the programs, the rules could vary, and in fact did it.
