The Observatory for Internet Analysis and Economic Development (ADEI) was launched with the objective of analyzing the impact of the Internet on the development and modernization of the Spanish economy by trying to transform our country into an international reference.
Led by the ex-president of the University of Alicante, Andrés Pedreño, ADEI is a collaboration project between Google, AFI and the University of Alicante's International Institute of Economics. The mission of ADEI is to propose measures that contribute to strengthening a positive dynamic in digital economics. For this, there are three currents areas of special interest: modernizing the public sector; growth, companies and competitiveness; and human capital linked to education.
The Observatory has a highly qualified consulting board made up of prestigious experts in economics and development of the information society: Borja Adsuara, Edmundo Bal Francés, Fernando Ballestero, Senén Barro, María Benjumea, Ignacio Escolar, Amuda Goueli, Ana María Llopis, Bárbara Navarro, Emilio Ontiveros, Mónica Oriol, Andrés Pedreño, Jorge Pérez, Martín Pérez, Juan Carlos Rodríguez Ibarra, Marcos Sacristán and Íñigo de la Serna, amongst others. Their work includes debating on the main tendencies of the Internet economy and prioritizing areas of work.
Taking into account that the Internet has a European GDP of 3.8%, ADEI's intentions are to develop a number of firmly analyzed actions, that are used for the digital means to function as a growth engine for Spain. This is done by firmly believing in the ability of generating transverse effects in all sectors.
The leader of the research group, Emilio Ontiveros, will guide the work group, in which teachers and researchers from the University of Alicante's International Institute of Economics take part. The objective is to produce relevant analyses that contribute to finding a way for our country to be able to achieve a higher degree of insertion, with regards to the internet, modernizing the economy and increasing productivity.
