The University President receives WHO accreditation which appoints the Interuniversity Institute for Social Development and Peace as a collaborating centre

The President of the University of Alicante, Manuel Palomar, received this morning the manager of the Vulnerability and Health Programme at the Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Europe, Piroska Östlin. The WHO’s representative, who has given several lectures during her stay at the UA, has delivered a copy of the letter of appointment of the Interuniversity Institute for Social Development and Peace (A- UJI) as a WHO Collaborating Centre, assigned exactly one year ago today. Dr. Östlin congratulated the University of Alicante for the "excellent work carried out from the Institute on vulnerability and health, under the coordination of lecturer Daniel La Parra". One of the main fields of work focuses on improving the health status of the Roma in Europe.
Meanwhile, La Parra explained that this appointment is a recognition of the work that has been developed by the IUDESP in the field of poverty and social inclusion "and is a great opportunity internationally, in terms of cooperation, education and research" . The event was attended by the Vice President for International Relations, Juan Llopis, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Ana Laguna, the Director of the Institute, Carmen Ródenas, as well as the secretary and a consultant to the Federation of Gypsy Associations in the Region of Valencia, FAGA, Nicolás Jiménez and Juan Fernández .
