The Higher Polytechnic School achieves the accreditation of the Association of Building Engineers
The title means a step in the internationalization of the Degree in Architectural Technology for students and graduates and its recognition as Building Engineering

The Higher Polytechnic School (EPS) of the University of Alicante has achieved accreditation from the Association of Building Engineers (ABE) in the UK. The EPS Director, Andrés Montoyo; the Deputy Director of undergraduate degree in Architectural technology, Juan Carlos Pérez; the Head of Studies of the undergraduate degree, Raúl Mora; the representative of ABE Spain, John Kirby, representatives of the Chartered Institute of Quantity Surveyors, Architectural Technologists and Building Engineers of Alicante (COAATIEA) and the students’ representative of the degree participated in the event, held on Wednesday, 11th September.
During the event, the EPS was given the certificate accrediting its membership, which is a step in the incorporation of the undergraduate degree in Architectural Technology, which is currently taught in this school, to the European Higher Education.
The EPS Director said that “it is a step forwards for our students and graduates in the internationalization of the Degree in Architectural Technology and its recognition as Building Engineering, which will certainly allow the opening of this career into new markets and thus new job opportunities”.
For his part, the representative of ABE in Spain, held a briefing in which he explained that "the affinity between the two undergraduate programmes, Architectural Technology and Building Engineering, is a shortcut to the British Association and there are different ways of membership depending on work experience". As for accreditation, he explained that "it is a seal of quality, the degree title gives members access to the Association, but to stay there, they have to continue their training since it is is necessary to get a job to provide they are competent”.
The Deputy Director of the undergraduate degree in Architectural Technology explained that accreditation is a first step but they will keep on working in this direction from the EPS, "we expect that soon, from the EPS and through ABE, we can collaborate with other accredited schools in areas as important as research and development, student exchanges, internships, academic staff mobility and educational collaborations among others”.
