Over 40 companies and institutions will participate in the University of Alicante's 16th Employment and Self-Employment Marathon

More than 40 companies and institutions will participate next Tuesday, 8 April at the 16th Marathon on Employment and Self-Employment at the University of Alicante, which will be held in the hall of the on-campus Lecture building II. Organised by the UA Office of the Vice President for Students through the GIPE (the University Employment” and the Observatory for Labour Integration, the marathon is intended to to promote employment, internships, and encourage self-employment among university students and graduates, helping them contact local and national professionals in need of university talents for their companies”, as stated Nuria Grané, the Vice President for Students. Also, during this day "companies and institutions will offer useful information to our students on the chances of developing their professional career," she added.".
This sixteenth edition, which will be running all day long, will start at 10 am with a tour of the various authorities around the on-campus booths of the companies and institutions, as well as around the University of Alicante’s services for training and employment.
As part of this event, a comprehensive training programme with workshops and conferences have been organised to take place between 10:30 am and 6 pm at the classrooms of the lecture building II, where prior registration is required. During the training talks, the following topics will be dealt with: survival manual for job interview(s), changing your mindset, from student to professional, new attitudes toward entrepreneurship, collaborative work and how to create your business with limited resources, and top tips on web positioning.
Talks on careers related to some specific profiles such as the degree in Computer Science or those degrees assigned to the Faculty of Arts will also be offered.
As usual, the marathon will host the presentation and selection process of candidates, employment and in-company training of companies like SABIC Innovate Plastics, CYPE Ingenieros, Leroy Merlin and Levantina, which will be held from 9 to 15 April. Specifically, as a motivating novelty for self-employment, Levantina Foundation is looking for attracting entrepreneurs for projects related to the stone and ancillary industries to provide them with funding and training support in terms of entrepreneurship initiatives
Student Council Logo competition
Coinciding with the celebration of the Marathon, the UA Student Council, under the Vice President of Students, will announce the logo which will become the image of the most important students' representation body of this academic institution.
With over one hundred participants and nearly 240 proposals submitted to the contest, the winner will receive 200 euros. The ceremony will be held in the auditorium of the lecture building II at 11.30 am the same Tuesday, 8 April.
