The agreement signed by the two organisations is part of Huawei’s overall educational programme, HANA (Huawei Authorised Network Academy)
Alicante, 3 April 2014
Huawei, a leading global provider in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and the University of Alicante have signed today an agreement for the development of HANA (Huawei Authorised Network Academy), a global educational project aimed at creating Huawei’s training centres at universities around the world.
As explained by the UA President, "it is a technology training centre of this leading company, which will be based in the Polytechnic School". Manuel Palomar, president of the University of Alicante, and Xiaoke Li, Vice Chairman of Huawei Enterprise in Spain, have staged the agreement this morning at the office of the University of Alicante’s president.
Partnership between industry and university, increasingly widespread and necessary, is an excellent model of talent development, which promotes the better performance of ICT professionals. Under the university-industry cooperation model, the educational programme HANA will be carried out and enable the University of Alicante to train future professionals in Huawei’s Networking solutions.
This is the first agreement of its kind promoted by the company in Western Europe. The course will be held for nine months starting in September 2014, and will be aimed primarily at the students of the Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering.
The University of Alicante’s Polytechnic School will acquire IT equipment from this company for the training labs for students and, in turn, Huawei will train the school staff who teach the classes and provide them with certified qualifications as well as access to contents, manuals, documentation and laboratory simulated environments for specific training. The HANA programme is focused on different technological fields, such as cloud computing, ICT convergence, macro data and mobile Internet.
According to Li Xiaoke, Vice Chairman of Huawei Enterprise in Spain: "we are delighted to be working with the Polytechnic School of the University of Alicante, an institution that keeps a firm commitment to their students and future ICTs. Huawei 's partnership will allow the construction of ICT labs, educational progress, the dissemination of industrial trends and, more importantly, the training of future professionals". Meanwhile, the UA President, has said that "once again, the University of Alicante is committed to technology and is at the global forefront in quality training and the application of ICT”.
