"Teaching recognition: innovate and research with quality criteria" is the slogan that opens the XII Congress on Research Networks in University Teaching, held at the University of Alicante on Thursday 3 July 2014. The event takes places in the Assembly Room at the General Lecture II at the UA on 3 and 4 July 2014. This edition has increased the participation of the UA teaching staff, as well as 1,095 authors and co-authors that have took part in 216 activities: 116 talks and 100 posters. In addition, the number of registrations reached 679.
This academic and research event has divided its programme around the main themes: “technology innovation”, “teaching innovation”, “methods in the process of teaching-learning”, “evaluation: system applications and their contribution to improving university teaching results”, and “university training in the current education system: needs and expectations”.
This event is a space where the university community can transfer strategies and research results, as students, administration and service staff take part, as well as teachers from training courses. The Congress on Research Networks has been responsible throughout every edition for an essential mission in the university which is research, innovation and transmitting the knowledge that has been learnt. Transferring knowledge creates possibilities and one of the most relevant objectives that has been worked on.
María Cecilia Gómez Lucas, Vice President for Studies Planning, Training Actions and Quality Standards at the UA, will open the XII edition of the congress on Thursday 3 July at 10 a.m. in the Assembly Room of the General Lecture Building II. Three conferences, two panels of experts and a round table are part of the programme. The opening speech will be given by the General Director of the Valencian Agency of Assessment and Forecasting, Jacobo Navarro de Peralta García. The congress will then continue with the first panel of experts “Commitments by teachers and students in the current university teaching model”. Elvira Juárez Casalengua from the Quality Assessment and Strategy Plan Unit will give the second talk in the afternoon, and afterwards there will be a round table. On Friday 4, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, María Ángeles Martínez Ruiz will give the last of the three talks.
The programme is associated to teacher training. This is why it is beneficial to have a monthly follow-up, which also comes along with a training plan and support from the Institute of Educational Science, organisers and promoters of the project, as well as the Office of the Vice President for Studies Planning, Training Actions and Quality Standards.
The event will be closed by Manuel Palomar Sanz, President of the UA.
