UA entrance examinations start on Tuesday with an increase of registered students

Alicante, 9 June 2014

With an increase in the number of students enrolled, about eighty more, the University of Alicante will host entrance examinations (PAU)tomorrow ,Tuesday, 10 June, at 9:30 am. The first tests will be on Spanish Language and Literature. The 3,430 registered students will continue on the 11 and 12 June 2014. Eleven examination panels will be available this year to examine 2,051 women and 1,379 men, distributed in Alcoy (with the secondary education centres  IES Cotes Baixes and IES Pare Vitoria), and the remaining nine panels located on the UA campus of San Vicente del Raspeig. In June 2013, the figures showed an ending balance of 3,355 students registered, of whom 1,949 were women and 1,406 men.

Students can register in PAU from two possible options: from upper secondary education or from post-secondary vocational training cycles. In the first case, the students registered make up a total of 3,246, while those from vocational education total 184 students. Also, we should remember that the students registered in the general phase can sit for the two phases (general and specific) with a total of 3,027 students. Meanwhile, 219 students from upper secondary education have only registered for the specific phase. They are mostly students who already were approved by entrance examination in previous years but sit again in order to improve their grades.

PAU will consist of a common general compulsory phase which will focus on four common areas: Spanish, Valencian, Foreign Language and History of Philosophy or History of Spain and another modality subject chosen by the student. The specific phase is voluntary and allows students to improve the final grade for admission into higher education.

The results of the tests are expected to be published on 20 June, from  2 pm. Students can check results, download their grades, appeal against the outcome,  ask for a second review or request to see the tests at the student portal.
