The University of Alicante enters Leiden Ranking of top 750 universities in the world in 473rd position
It is ranked the second amongst all Spanish universities in the field of social sciences and the first in the region of Valencia

The University of Alicante is among the top 500 universities in the world according to the prestigious ranking by Leiden University - CWTS Leiden Ranking 2014. Published on 30 April and conducted by the Centre for Science and Technology Studies, a world reference in the field, this ranking is internationally regarded as the "more academic" since it measures the global scientific activity of the 750 best universities.
The Leiden Ranking uses a sophisticated set of bibliometric indicators and parameters to provide highly accurate measurements of the scientific impact of universities and analyse the impact of the transfer of results and cooperative research. The CWTS Leiden Ranking is based on the Web of Science indexed publications - a main reference to assess productivity, high quality and research transfer results.
In the 2014 edition, the University of Alicante first appears in the top 500, ranked the 473. In the general ranking of all scientific fields, the UA is in the fifteenth place of all Spanish universities, ahead of universities such as Complutense of Madrid, the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the University of Salamanca, among others.
Furthermore, it is noteworthy that in the field of social sciences - this ranking also includes Arts and Humanities- the University of Alicante is the second of all the Spanish universities listed and the first in the region of Valencia. In this regard, in the field of Natural Sciences, UA ranks fifth among the Spanish universities and the second one in in Valencia.
