The University of Alicante announces its Gender Equality Award 2015
In order to recognise individuals, groups, organisations and institutions that have been outstanding for their actions in defense of equality between women and men
Alicante, 13 January 2015
For the third consecutive year, the University of Alicante announces its Gender Equality Award-UA 2015 in order to recognise individuals, groups, organisations and institutions (both public and private) that have been outstanding for their performance in defense of equality between women and men.
One more year, the award may also recognise the careers that give examples of academic excellence, to make visible the contribution of women to scientific and social progress, and break with the androcentric view that has been traditionally around on science, research and Academia.
The awarding ceremony, with which the UA makes official its commitment to this fundamental human right, consists of delivering a miniature replica of the ‘Harmony’ sculpture by Spanish artist based in France, José Ángel López Merino, which is located in the on campus Gender Equality Square.
Deadline for applications is Thursday, 12 February 2015. Proposals must be submitted using this form, through the University General Records Office, to the gender Equality Unit, along with a curriculum vitae of the applicant, and in case of groups, organisations or institutions, a report of the activities undertaken to support their candidature.
The UA women five-a-side football team were granted this recognition for their brilliant sporting background, commitment to the promotion of women's sport and their slogan "We are women, we are athletes, we have that power.
The delivery of the Equal-UA Award 2015 will take place in a public ceremony marking the celebration of International Women's Day.
