The University of Alicante, runner up in the Telefónica Ability Awards in two categories
Competing with 434 candidatures from 217 institutions

The University of Alicante has been a runner-up in 2015 Telefonica Ability Awards, which were delivered on Monday, 12 January, in a ceremony presided over by Queen Letizia. Telefónica Ability Awards are a public and entrepreneurial recognition of best practices in terms of disability inclusion in the value chain. The University of Alicante has managed to be a finalist in the categories of "Customer Orientation" and "Commitment and leadership of senior management." after competing with 217 institutions from which 434 applications were submitted.
The award recognises 16 years of experience promoting higher education of people with disabilities, ensuring the means required for their development through the Student Support Centre, from the Office of the Vice President for Students. The ceremony was attended by Vice President Nuria Grané and one of the technicians responsible for the SSC, Patricia Soler, who collected the award. Nuria Grané rated this as a very positive recognition since it gives visibility to the commitment to inclusive education and provides our institution a clear value with a positive impact across society.
