UA coordinates an international project on strategic counselling to European SMEs focused on Latin America
The European Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other institutions from Mexico, Chile and Brazil participate in ’Latin America IPR SME Helpdesk’.

The University of Alicante will host the first meeting of the European project 'Latin America IPR SME Helpdesk' until Friday 17 July. It begins with the aim of providing advice and training on intellectual property to European SMEs in Latin America. The project, coordinated by the University of Alicante, is funded by European Union COSME Programme.
The project, coordinated by the UA, continues the work of 'Mercosur IPR SME Helpdesk' and major European and Latin American institutions and associations are involved. This new IPR is the third consortium coordinated by the Alicante academic institution and is made up by Eurochambres (European Chambers of Commerce and Industry), Industrial Property National Institute (Portugal), Monterrey Technological Institute and Higher Education (Mexico), Eurochile (EU-Chile Business Foundation), National Institute of Industrial Property of Chile and IDS Dannemann Siemens Institute for Legal and Technical Studies (Brazil).
The IPR SME Helpdesk Latin America, that is expected to be developed in 30 months, will become a strategic partner of those European SMEs interested in expanding their business in Latin America . The Helpdesk will offer free advice on intellectual property rights, courses and workshops, as well as materials developed by professionals on specific issues.
The University of Alicante has been coordinating European projects for legal assistance on intellectual property, patent offices collaborating with patent and trademark offices from 19 European countries.
