UA Professor Augusto Beléndez is awarded BBVA Foundation and Spanish Royal Society of Physics (RSEF) prize for Teaching and Dissemination of Physics within University Education

Dr Augusto Beléndez Vazquez, Professor of Applied Physics at the Universitat d'Alacant/Universidad de Alicante, has received "Teaching and Dissemination of Physics within University Education" prize. This award is granted yearly by the Spanish Royal Society of Physics (RSEF) and BBVA bank Foundation (FBBVA). This year's award winner was announced on Friday 22 January.
Teaching and Dissemination of Physics awards reward university professors for their activity and special commitment to education, as well as their significant pedagogical task and unique contributions to the dissemination of Physics. According to the decision, the prize is awarded to Professor Beléndez (whose application included extensive documentation) to honour his "numerous educational publications and presentations related to the teaching of physics, together with the videos, blog entries and articles he published in the media on the subject of pysics experiments, and more specifically for the events he organised to mark the International Year of Light".
Furthermore, Professor Beléndez has just been appointed "Fellow Member" of The International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE), a distinction that honours members of the Society who have made significant scientific and technological contributions in the fields of optics, photonics and imaging science.
The awards ceremony will be held at the headquarters of BBVA Foundation in Madrid; it will be public, and the Presidents of RSEF and FBBVA, as well as a representative of the Ministry of Education and Science, will attend.
