The University of Alicante Polytechnic School (EPS) has just achieved ‘Acredita Plus’ prestigious seal of recognition in five of its degrees: Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Sound and Image Telecommunications, Computer Engineering and Multimedia Engineering. Among other advantages, this accreditation offers graduates official international recognition guarantees, a plus on their capabilities and skills.
ANECA has launched this accreditation in two areas: Engineering for obtaining the EUR-ACE seal, and Computing for achieving the EURO-INF one. Both are granted to a university for an undergraduate or Master’s degree assessed according to a set of standards defined according to the principles of quality, relevance, transparency, recognition and mobility envisaged by the European Higher Education Area.
Only six other universities have been awarded the EUR-ACE label for one of their degrees in Spain but it is the University of Alicante the first one to be awarded this certification for the undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering.
In the case of the EURO-INF certification, it has been only awarded to the University of Alicante degrees in Computer Engineering and Multimedia Engineering and to some degrees, mainly Master's, offered by four other universities.
Moreover, taking into account higher education quality standards, "the main requirement for the ‘Acredita Plus’ label has been assessing whether the skills acquired by our graduates were adjusted to the actual needs of companies in the sector," as explained by EPS Coordinator in Quality and Educational Innovation, Miguel Angel Lozano, and Deputy Coordinator Virgilio Gilart.
"This accreditation provides the University of Alicante with a large recognition which allows our graduates to be hired by national and international companies," as EPS Director Andrés Montoyo stated.
It is not the first time UA Polytechnic School has been recognised for the quality of both its teaching activity and degrees. It is indeed, the first Spanish institution providing an undergraduate degree in Robotics Engineering. Also, as its director says, "our graduates employability rate rounds almost 100% in those degrees awarded with the ‘Acredita Plus’ seal.
