Alcoi. Friday, 18 March 2016
University of Alicante President Manuel Palomar and Mayor of Alcoi Antoni Francés presented the project to offer an undergraduate degree in Education in the city of Alcoi.
The degree will be taught in a symbolic area of the city as a result of the agreement between the University and the City Council for the transfer of this space, which is thought to be suitable for accommodating future university facilities.
UA President Manuel Palomar explained that "our intention is to begin some sort of this activity the next academic year, such as training courses related to Education studies".
In the words of the president "the University of Alicante has a clear vocation to be present throughout the country, as evidenced by the network of campuses that allow us to bring our institution and its activity closer to municipalities and citizens. However, Alcoi goes a step further in this firm commitment to go beyond the framework of our campus in Sant Vicent del Raspeig and will provide a real Campus extension where education studies will be taught"
Mayor Antoni Francés, meanwhile, stressed that "this is complementary training offered along with the already existing one which will make Alcoi become a top university city".
Alcoi and the University of Alicante have had a framework cooperation agreement since 2012 which has resulted in various activities throughout the years, with Rafael Altamira UA Summer Courses being the most outstanding in terms of education.
