University of Alicante Scientific Olympics awards winning students
Faculty of Sciences Dean Luis Gras presented the new undergraduate degree in Physics offered by UA in the next academic year
One hundred students were awarded first and second prizes during the local stage of the Scientific Olympics

The University of Alicante has awarded this morning the secondary and vocational students classified in the local stage of the Scientific Olympics held along this academic year at UA. Before a crowded audience, Vice President for Students Nuria Grané presented the ceremony giving way to the Olympics organisers: Polytechnic School Director Andrés Montoyo, Faculty of Business & Economic Sciences Juan Luis Nicolau, Faculty of Sciences Dean Luis Gras, and Faculty of Arts Dean Juan Mesa.
Faculty of Sciences Dean Luis Gras used the occasion to inform of the new undergraduate degree in Physics that will begin next academic year at the UA. On the other hand, Faculty of Arts Dean Juan Mesa wanted to highlight, as Montoyo, Nicolau and Gras did, the work performed by the Olympics coordinators as well as by the secondary students’ teachers, and by the administrative staff members who managed all the activities included in this event.
One hundred and four participating students were awarded for a total of fifteen scientific olympic events: Information Technology and Artistic Drawing (organised by the Polytechnic School); Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Geology and Physics (organised by the Faculty of Sciences); Economics (organised by the Faculty of Business & Economic Sciences); and Geography, History, Spanish Language, Catalan Studies, Classical Languages, Philosophy, Arabic and Islamic Studies (organised by the Faculty of Arts).
