UA takes part of the only PhD degree in Intellectual Property funded by the European Union

Interested candidates can now apply for 15 full fellowships for three years

Alicante. Wednesday, 18 January 2017

The University of Alicante Master's Degree in Intellectual Property (Magister Lvcentinvs) begins a new stage as part of the European PhD "EIPIN Innovation Society", the  first and only PhD degree in Intellectual Property so far funded by the European Union as part of the European Intellectual Property Institutes Network (EIPIN).

Even though the official launch of the PhD degree "EIPIN Innovation Society" will not take place until mid March in Brussels, interested candidates can now apply for 15 fellowships aimed at writing up their thesis on one of the following themes chosen within the framework of the project. The fellowships fully cover three years of maintenance costs at the host university, mobility for courses, seminars, conferences and research stays scheduled at other universities. The application deadline for these fellowships is 29 March.

Selection criteria and documents required are available on the project's website. This is a unique opportunity to work on a PhD with a group of top scholars, backed by a network of companies and institutions in intellectual property that turn this programme in something hard to beat worldwide.

PhD “EIPIN Innovation Society”, a project within Marie Skodowska Curie Innovative Training Network, funded by the European Union, is a joint PhD participated by the universities of London, Maastricht, Strasburg and Augsburg, other than the University of Alicante.

As part of  "Strategy 2020", the European Commission has expressed the desire to bring European research closer to enterprises, underlining the extreme relevance of industries based on intangible assets and new technologies for the economy. That is why the 'EIPIN Innovation Society'' contributes to the major challenges related to learning, innovation and inclusive societies in a free market economy facing humanity in the 21st century: food security, climate change, demographic change and health of citizens.

This joint PhD is particularly aimed at seeking a new type of researcher who is able to define and resolve the complexities of the Intellectual Property system and its role in the innovation life cycle. Also, the Network will allow researchers to forge strong connections with future employers through the participation of the most relevant institutions and organisations in the sector as well as with a good number of innovative companies.
