This year's survey carried out by Everis Foundation among companies has revealed the employer's opinion on their new graduate staff during the latest five years, which, again, rates the University of Alicante Faculty of Health Sciences degrees at the top in Health and Welfare and among the top 10 Spanish universities in the degrees of Law, Business Administration and Economics.

The study analyses the student competences understood as key skills applied for the work's development. In order to carry out the ranking, the company hiring managers are asked about the importance of eight competencies in relation to their performance by the workers: teamwork; interpersonal and communication skills; job needs of technical knowledge; honesty and ethical commitment; learning capacity; analysis and resolution of conflicts; results-oriented approach; and ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings.

Honesty and ethical commitment is the most valued competence by employers, while the ability to analyse and solve problems presents the assessment that is farthest from the expectations of those responsible for recruitment. Also worth mentioning is that the least relevant competence for hiring managers —the ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings— appears to be the best achieved by recent graduates.

The ranking shows the best rated Spanish universities in five fields of knowledge according to the employers' perception based on the feedback provided by the recent graduates hired: Humanities and Social Sciences; Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology; Business Administration, Economics and Law; Health & Welfare; and Science and Engineering.

The present study includes an assessment of companies on newly graduates hired without previous experience. It should be noted that, despite the breadth of the survey (3,545 companies), there are two segments that are not considered in the research:  The public sector (due to the criteria used in the selection of its staff); private companies with fewer than ten employees, in order to streamline the  resources of contracting company resources, that is, companies with more than ten employees.
