The universities global ranking of universities will be made public on 15 August. In the meantime, the University of Shanghai is releasing the results by fields of knowledge, and the UA is among the best in the world in five of them. The ranking is based on six objective indicators to rank the world universities, among them, the recognition awarded to their teaching staff (Nobel prizes or Fields Medals), number of highly cited researchers selected by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters), number of articles published in the Nature and Science journals and number of articles indexed in SCI and SSCI.
Vice President for Quality Assurance and Educational Innovation Francisco Torres states that "the presence of the University of Alicante in this ranking, which ranks the best 4000 universities in the world, is the result of the good work that has been done in the field of scientific production in Hospitality & Tourism Management, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences and Agricultural Sciences, thanks to the presence of groups and research institutes. It should be borne in mind that the University of Alicante does not have Nobel prizes or Fields medals yet, which are elements of great weight in this ranking. For that reason, being among the best universities in the world responds essentially to the high impact of the research work that has been done in our University.
