This R&D+i activity related to colour science and technology worldwide will be developed prior to the Pigment & Colour Science Forum and the TiO2 Summit, two annual global conferences for executive managers that will take place on 4 and 5 of October at the Alicante Conference Centre. It is an opportunity for these executive directors, interested in getting to know the capabilities of the research group, to visit the Vision & Colour Reserach Group, led by Francisco Miguel Martínez Verdú, and the UA Adhesion & Adhesives Lab, directed by José Miguel Martín Martínez, professor in Inorganic Chemistry. The occasion will allow them to discover which projects the University of Alicante is working on this field.
The Workshop will be held during the morning on 3 October in the UA Optics building with the participation of several speakers connected to relevant ongoing programmes in this field at the UA, either European projects or spin-offs.
The guests will be welcomed on campus by Director of the UA Research Services Juan Mora, acting on behalf of the UA President at 1:10 pm. Joaquín Campos, researcher at the IO-CSIC Institute of Optics and representative of the European project "Bidirectional reflectance definitions" (BiRD) will start the Workshop afterwards. Miguel Martín Martínez will follow presenting a UA spin-off based on self-repairing resin
UA lecturer Alfonso Jiménez and María Carmen Garrigós, from European project BARBARA for the development of new biological materials from food waste with applications in the construction and automotive sectors will also participate. As well as Francisco Miguel Martínez Verdú, with a project on MSc in Colour Technology for the automotive sector (ColTAS). Martínez Verdú will speak on proactive management of the visual appearance of products: in the automotive sector and other industries.
After the presentations of each of the research groups and their projects, a visit to the labs in the Optics building of all participants is scheduled at 3.50 pm.
Three of the four talks on “Pigment & Colour Science Forum” will be given by UA researchers. Except for the first one, experts from the UA research group in Adhesion & Adhesives will talk on spin-offs and the European project on nano biopolymers, about which two speakers belonging to the Vision & Colour Research Group will be talking.
