University of Alicante hosts the 18th Conference on Density-Functional Theory and its Applications
Over 190 participants from 30 countries will meet at the UA from Monday to Friday in the context of a series of biennial meetings held in Europe for more than 30 years to discuss the latest developments in the field.
The main auditorium of lecture building No. 2 will host the opening ceremony on Monday at 10.15 am with Vice President for Studies Planning Enrique Herrero, president of the Spanish Confederation of Scientific Societies Perla Wahnon and president of the organising committee Juan Carlos Sancho.

Up to date, more than 190 participants from 30 countries have already confirmed their participation in a meeting with over 40 hours of scientific content, where the latest advancements developed so far will be discussed.
Lecturer Sancho stressed that this theory has been the most successful and applied to all quantum theories capable of describing the energy and structure of matter. According to him, the theory is among the most cited fields of research of all time, according to the journal Nature, with more than 250,000 citations accumulated in scientific articles. These biennial conferences also serve to increase knowledge on the subject and the training of attendees.
