Spanish government includes UA professor María Teresa Soler in the team of experts for tax reform
The University of Alicante Professor in Financial and Tax Law is part of the committee of 17 experts whose aim is to redesign the tax model and regional funding

The Spanish Government has included University of Alicante Professor in Financial and Tax Law, María Teresa Soler Roch, in the team of 17 experts created with the aim of promoting a reform of the Spanish tax model and the regional funding system.
As reported by the central government through Minister of the Treasury María Jesús Montero, the working group must present its conclusions before 28 February next year.
The Committee of Experts will be chaired by Jesús Ruiz-Huerta, professor of Applied Economics at the Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid and director of the Laboratory at the Alternativas Foundation. Between 2004 and 2008, he was Director General of the Fiscal Studies Institute, an institution attached to the Ministry of the Treasury.
The other members of the committee also belong to the different areas of the academic world, so that there is plurality in the debates, according to Montero. Furthermore, the minister explained that these people are also experts in regional funding, which will play a fundamental role for the government in the tax reform.
The committee is made up of a president, a secretary, Alain Cuenca, and 15 members. According to the Ministry of Finance, all of them are people of recognised prestige and great experience with a multidisciplinary academic background that includes knowledge in the field of financial and tax law, economics and public finance.
The group is made up of 15 members, which includes Fran Adame, Antonia Agulló, Olga Cantó, Laura de Pablos, Santiago Díaz de Sarralde, Xavier Labandeira, Santiago Lago, Guillem López Casasnovas, Julio López Laborda, David López Rodríguez, Carlos Monasterio, Saturnina Moreno, Violeta Ruiz Almendra, Maria Teresa Soler and Marta Villar.
Soler is currently a professor emeritus at the UA and has been a member of the main national and international associations and committees in this discipline. She chaired the Council for the Defence of the Taxpayer and has been a member of some main national expert commissions on tax legislation.
