Valencian public universities reduce attendance to a minimum at the start of the second term as agreed with regional government
Alicante, Castellón, Valencia. Tuesday 26 January 2021
Although university campuses continue to be safe spaces, the agreed measure will be in force throughout the month of February and aims to reduce the mobility of students on campus, thus contributing to complying with the measures recently adopted by the Valencian Government to fight the spread of COVID-19 in the Valencia Region.
Presidents of the Valencian Region's public universities are meeting at least once a week with the regional minister responsible for universities to analyse the evolution of the pandemic in our region and to share views on the situation in the Valencian public universities.
In the course of the meeting held online this morning, the development of the exams was analysed, which are taking place without incident, demonstrating, once again, that the classrooms are safe spaces, as the competent authorities in public health and universities have pointed out.
In view of the evolution of the pandemic in the Valencia Region, as the Regional Minister of Public Health reported yesterday in parliamentary session, the Conference of Valencian Public Universities Presidents (CRUPV) has reached an agreement with the Valencian Government to reduce attendance to a minimum during the month of February, when the second term of this academic year begins.
Unlike exam periods, when student attendance is limited in time and in capacity, the regular teaching activity involves greater displacements.
In this sense, the agreement reached will make it possible to reduce travel and the presence of students on university campuses.
The Valencian Public University System thus contributes to complying to mobility reduction measures recently adopted by the Valencian Government to contain the spread of the pandemic.
