In relation to the economic measures adopted by the Government of Spain on Friday, 20th April, that should be approved by the Valencian Government, the presidents of the five public universities of Valencia:
Warn of the risks of social exclusion that may have increased the cost of tuition for the students of the Valencia Public University System, especially in a context like the present economic crisis. They expect from the Valencian Government that increased tuition fees at the Valencian Public University System be placed in the lowest level of the range established by the Spanish Government, they claimed the increase of funding for university scholarships and access to University with equal opportunities for all citizens.
They stress that the measures adopted by the Government do not take into account the commitment of the academic staff to administrative functions and transfer of knowledge and they regret that these measures reduce the working conditions of teachers and change their a full-time commitment unilaterally.
Finally, they remember that investing in higher education is a key factor in the economic recovery and in contributing to a necessary change in the production model.
