As a tribute to Bernicola and Morente
The singer Carmen Linares opens in Alicante her latest show entitled Oasis abierto. Miguel Hernandez flamenco. The national release will take place next Thursday, January, 13th at 20.30 pm, at the Teatro Principal in Alicante. The show, sponsored by the University of Alicante’s Office of the Vice President for Extracurricular Activities and the Foundation Manuel Peláez Castillo, is a tribute to the UA lecturer, José Antonio Martínez Bernicola and to the singer Enrique Morente, who has recently died.
In the show -with the cooperation of the City of Alicante and the Caja de Ahorros del Mediterraneo- converge poetry, history, light, images and music on a stage together for the flamenco. An artistic proposal that crosses the traditional image of the poet in order to bet on the foundations of poetry: the affirmation of life. That "live flamenco" is what Carmen Linares shows in this tribute to the Hernandian poetry, "projecting his verses towards the contemporary scope, towards us", as they explain. This oasis is musically meant as a contemporary flamenco scene bet that encompasses the flow of flamenco roots, drinks from folk and popular music and splashes with a contemporary musical aspect.
Added to the perfomance of the singer, we find the percussion of Tino Di Geraldo, the guitar of Salvador Gutiérrez, the piano of Paul Smith, the jangling sounds of Tomasito and the compositions of the singer Luis Pastor. The stage direction is designed and coordinated by Emilio Hernández, theatre director who joins the artistic cast by contributing with his stage experience. This multiplicity of elements gives us a global approach which brings closer this picture and the word of a poet who always walked to and from the audience.
Tickets are available at theatre box office www.servicam.es and Principal in Alicante.
