The University of Alicante's School of Nursing becomes the Faculty of Health Sciences

This was decided today by the University of Alicante's Governing Council in a session where the conferment of four honoris causa degrees was also approved.
The Governing Council of the University of Alicante has approved this morning the transformation of the Nursing School into the Faculty of Health Sciences. With this decision, a process has started, which requires the approval of the UA Social Council and the final approval of the Generalitat Valenciana, such as is established in the legislation concerned.
The Governing Council today's session has also included the approval, of a proposal from the Faculty of Education, of four new appointments of honoris causa doctors:
Judith Butler (lecturer at the University of California's Department of Rhetoric and Comparative Literature), Marilyn Cochran-Smith (teacher's trainer on Education for Urban Schools, at Boston College), Linda Darling-Hammond (lecturer in Education at the University of Stanford) and Gloria Ladson-Billings (Lecturer in Urban Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison)
