Alicante, 29th June 2012

On Friday, 29th June 2012, the University of Alicante hosted a meeting of the Valencian Universities Network for the promotion of Research, Development and Innovation (RUVID). The double session, which started with the RUVID Executive Committee and then the meeting of the RUVID Ordinary General Assembly, took place on the Campus of San Vicente del Raspeig. In both sessions, the vice presidents for research of the seven associated Valencian universities have been attending, as well as the Directors of the Offices for Transfer of Research Results and Technical Research Services of the Valencian universities. Also, RUVID's Executive Committee met Juan María Vázquez Rojas, Director-General for Scientific and Technical Research from the Ministry for Economy & Competitiveness, in a meeting that took part, too, José Miguel Saval Pérez, Director-General for Universities, Higher Studis & Science, from the Regional Department for Education, Training & Employment.

On the topics which have been dealt with this morning, Pedro Carrasco Sorli, RUVID Chairman and Vice President for Research and Scientific Policy of the University of Valencia, said that << issues affecting R & D + i at universities are being addressed. We have discussed issues arising from the application of the Law on Science regarding the transfer and recruitment of researchers. It has also discussed the situation derived from the status of the implementation of grants from the Valencian Government >>

RUVID has approved at today's meeting the creation of a working group to prepare a scoreboard of R + D + i. Thus, the goal is to unify and standardize the indicators to assess the scientific activity of Valencian universities in order to give greater visibility to the important work they do. In this meeting point for all the vice presidents, Inndea Valencia Foundation has been presented by Salomé Reillo, Technical Director of InnDEA Foundation in Valencia.

The Valencian Universities Network for the Promotion of Research, Development and Innovation (RUVID) was born in December 2001 through a collaboration agreement between the five public universities of Valencia. It is made up of the universities of Alicante, Valencia, Polytechnic of Valencia, Jaume I of Castellón, Miguel Hernández de Elche, CEU Cardenal Herrera and the Catholic University of Valencia San Vicente Martyr.
