The UA will face new teaching methods of second languages in an international course

The meeting will be attended by Robert L. Davis (one of the most important figures in the teaching of the Spanish language in the U.S.) and representatives of the OHIM and the European School.
On Monday, 26th March, the 2nd International Course on Second Language Teaching Methods will start at the University of Alicante and it will be held until Saturday, 31st March. Professionals from the international scope shall hold this meeting at the UA in order to face the statutory education from the elementary level and the different professional fields requiring specific language learning. The second language teaching methodology is especially relevant at the present moment with the imminent entry into force in the Valencia Region of the Decree on Multilingualism and also the tendency for schools to implement various language channels to fulfill academic programmes.
The course, co-directed by Antonio Díez Mediavilla, Vice Dean for Research and Postgraduate Programmes at the Faculty of Education, and Maria Teresa del Olmo, associate lecturer in the Department of Didactic Innovation and Training of the UA Faculty of Education, has been organized by the Department of Didactic Innovation and Training, in collaboration with the Faculty of Education, the Department of Catalan Studies, the Spanish Society for the Teaching of Language and Literature (SEDLL), and the UA Education Sciences Institute.
Renowned speakers will particpate in the course, including Robert L. Davis, a lecturer at the University of Oregon and Director of the Spanish School Middlebury at Mills College (Oakland), "which is the contribution of one of the most important figures in the teaching of Spanish language in the United States", in the words of organizers; and representatives of the OHIM Academy and the European School of Alicante, who will participate in the meeting to present the requirements and conditions imposed by the the multilingual reality of their respective professional fields.
