The Spanish Confederation of People with Physical and Organic Disabilities in the Region of Valencia rewards UA activity
Alicante, 25th October 2011
The University of Alicante has been rewarded in the last edition of COCEMFE Awards, which was developed in Valencia last week at the 5th Conference organized by that organization on the Present and Future of Disability: Times of Crisis, Times of Struggle.
According to COCEMFE, the University of Alicante has received the recognition of that organization for its work on behalf of the students with disabilities. Through the Student Support Centre, the UA applies an approach of inclusion in the care of its students, with actions aimed at accessibility to the physical environment and to communication designed for everyone.
Thus, the University of Alicante has a programme to incorporate students with disabilities, targeted at newcomers. It also has a second accompanying programme specializing in the assistance to students with disabilities and encourages community services. Finally, there exists a third programme on labor integration designed exclusively for students with disabilities, through which needs are identified, reported and guidance on job search is offered as well as on job exchange databases.
