With the creation of the African Library, the Virtual Library “Miguel de Cervantes” presents a literary corpus in which Spanish has become a vehicle of expression for many writers within African territories, as well as outside its frontiers. The user will find texts by Equatorial Guinean authors; also texts by those who pick this language as a result of a free-willing idiomatic choice (e.g. Morocco, Cameroon), as a result of a social immersion (migrant literatures) or who write in Spanish as a consequence of recent migratory flows. This site belongs to the project “African Literatures in Spanish. Literary Mediation and Poetic Hospitality since the 90s” (FFI2010-21439) funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitivity.
In addition to the literary texts, there are in-depth studies on the African continent, critical and theoretical reflections on authors or on a given corpus, links of interest, as well as audiovisual material. All of these materials allow a more deep approach to the knowledge of Africa and too, tackles from different perspectives the context of creation of this emerging corpus.
