She is an Associate Professor at the University of Alicante since 1992. Her research focuses on Gender and Postcolonial Studies, particularly on the relations established between the North of Africa and the different feminist theories in France. She has worked on Francophone writers and thinkers from the Maghreb and their impact on issues such as immigration, integration and new citizenships in the context of a multicultural Europe. She has published many articles in international journals and has been principal investigator of various research groups such as “Observatorio de la recepción de la literatura magrebí: la traducción de títulos Árabe/Francés; Castellano/Catalán”, and “Traducción y multiculturalismo: re-escrituras magrebíes en la cultura mediterránea”.
More recently, she has dealt with the discourses of Muslim women in France and the constant challenge it poses for the development of a dialogue between Europe and the Maghreb. Given the relevance of Spain as recipient of a strong African immigration current, her research focuses on the tight relations between writers and thinkers on both shores, and the role of the Spanish language in the creative processes of the Maghreb. Currently, she is principal investigator of the project: “Literaturas africanas en español. Mediación literaria y hospitalidad poética desde los '90” funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. She is also the academic director for the African Library, which belongs to the Virtual Library “Miguel de Cervantes”.
