The European Union and the major crises: the migration crisis, climate change, Brexit and the economic and health crisis

 

Pre-registration is now open for the Rafael Altamira summer course "The European Union and the major crises: the migration crisis, climate change, Brexit and the economic and health crisis".

This course is dedicated to the analysis of the most important challenges facing the European Union today. In particular, Brexit, the prolonged financial and economic crisis, the migration crisis, the fight against climate change and now, in addition, the health crisis caused by COVID-19. This course will give students an insight into the response that the European Union is offering to each of these challenges in the framework of the Conference on the Future of Europe.

Date: from 12 to 15 July 2021
Time: from 9 to 14h.
Place: DUAL mode.

CONFERENCES ON TRANSNATIONAL COMPANIES IN CONTEMPORARY INTERNATIONAL LAW: HUMAN RIGHTS AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

 

The Interuniversity Centre for European Studies (CIEE) has organized a series of conferences on October 19, 20, 21 and 26, 2020 under the title of Transnational companies in contemporary international law: human rights and sustainable development goals, subsidised by the Program for the promotion of scientific research, technological development and innovation in the Valencian Community.

The activity will take place in the Mock Trial Room  of the Faculty of Law of the University of Alicante from 11 to 14 hours. The sessions will also be broadcast through the Google Meet platform.

X COURSE ON SECURITY AND DEFENSE, OCTOBER 7 and 14, 2020

 

The Interuniversity Centre for European Studies (CIEE) has organized the 10th Course on Security and Defense for October 7 and 14, which deals with issues on the participation of the Spanish Armed Forces in international missions.

Roundtable debate The European Union and Human Rights

 

On September 22, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. the roundtable debate "The European Union and Human Rights" will take place.This is  an activity that could not be carried out on March 26, 2020 due to the state of alarm caused by the health crisis of COVID-19. This round table is part of the Round Tables Cycle “Studies on the European Union in secondary education. Specific thematic areas”,  which has the support of the Erasmus + Jean Monnet Activities-EAC / A03 / 2018 Program (610499-EPP-1-2019-1-ES-EPPJMO-PROJECT).

The roundtable will include the participation as speakers of Valentín Bou Franch, prof. of Public International Law of the University of Valencia and Ana Salinas de Frías, Profª. of Public International Law of the University of Malaga. Prof. Jaume Ferrer Lloret will act as moderator.

The activity will take place in classroom 1-49M of Lecture 1 of the Faculty of Law of the University of Alicante.

JEAN MONNET CONFERENCE ON THE VALUES OF THE EUROPEAN UNION AT THE PRESENT TIME

The Department of International Public Law and International Relations of the Miguel Hernández University of Elche has organised, with the co-financing of the Erasmus + Programme of the European Union (Jean Monnet Programme), a series of conferences on the values of the European Union at the current time. The conference will be held in the format of round tables on 9 March and 2 April 2020 at the Elche Campus.

Prof. Jaume Ferrer participation at the Co-creating Erasmus + and the European Solidarity Corps event

 

On January 28 and 29, 2010, prof. Jaume Ferrer, Director of the Interuniversity Centre for European Studies at the University of Alicante, participated in the event “Co-creating Erasmus + and the European Solidarity Corps”, held in Brussels and organized by the European Commission.

This event combines plenary sessions and thematic sessions focusing on the main Erasmus + programme activities and the programs of the European Solidarity Corps. In them, participants take stock of the results achieved so far in the framework of their projects, in addition to discussing proposals for improvement.

On May 29 and 30, Prof. Dr. Carolina Soler, Academic Secretary of the CIEE, participated as a speaker at the International Conference "The European Union and the material and immaterial walls: challenges for security, sustainability and the rule of law ", held at the Faculty of Social Sciences in Cuenca. This Conference was organized jointly by the University of Castilla-La Mancha and the Spanish Association of Professors of International Law and International Relations (AEPDIRI) and funded by the Jean Monnet Project " Globalizing the Union’s Debate: Internal and External Leadership in an Era of Challenges- EUGLOBAL".

30th anniversary of the Jean Monnet Activities, Florence 2019

 

On May 2, prof. Dr. Carolina Soler García, Professor of Public International Law and European Union, and Secretary Academy of the Interuniversity Centre for European Studies of the University of Alicante, attended the session dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Jean Monnet activities that took place at the European University Institute  in Florence. This session discussed the ways to address current political and social trends through education, in general, and in the field of European studies, in particular. Photos of the event.
