The Centre and its surroundings are used for the performance of the educational activities developed by the UA, especially for practical activities. Also, it receives university students, especially those in the undergraduate programmes of Marine Sciences and Biology, with the development of sea-related and lab practicals, as well as those in doctoral and master's programmes.
Training courses for teachers
The CIMAR hosts courses aimed at primary and secondary education teachers, with the aim of organizing easy outings by the coast for learning purposes, as well as of getting to know the educational-cultural infrastructure of the Research Marine Center (CIMAR) , in the Cape of Santa Pola, with guided visits to the fish port, fish market, aquarium and Marine Reserve of Tabarca.
The aim of these courses is to introduce the non-university teachers in the knowledge of the marine environment, under different approaches: basic (study of the coastal flora and fauna, marine zonation) and applied (fishing, education, protection).
The course, intensive and practical, is structured in three modules: knowledge, application/education and protection of the marine environment.
Seminars and Conferences.
In turn, the Centre's facilities host conferences and seminars organized by several entities and companies, members of the scientific community, and different areas of the town hall of Santa Pola.
Conference: Directrices para el desarrollo sostenible de la Acuicultura en el Mediterráneo (Guidelines for the sustainable development of the Aquaculture in the Mediterranean). With the collaboration of the Business Association of Marine Aquaculture Producers in Spain (APROMAR). 28th and 29th February 2008.
Course Habilidades directivas en el Comercio (Managerial Skills in Commerce). Organized by the Local Development Agency of the town hall of Santa Pola. 9th and 10th September 2008.

Introduction to the Marine Fauna Taxonomy in the Mediterranean Sea. Regional Activity Center for Special Protected Areas (RAC/SPA, PNUMA) through the Mediterranean Action Plan From 18th to 24th February 2008. Participants: 16 researchers (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Montenegro, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey).
Workshop on Climatic Change and Biodiversidad Marine in the Mediterranean. Organized by the United Nations Environment Programme's Mediterranean Action Plan (PNUMA), through the Regional Centre on the Marine Protected Areas and Biological Diversity Conservation (RAC/SPA). Participants: 12 people (Cyprus, Egypt, Spain, Greece, Israel, Malta, Tunisia, Turkey).
Educational activity
