In 1977, the General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed 8 March as the International Day for Women's Rights and World Peace. Nowadays, 8 March is generally known as International Women's Day, and its origin dates back to the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire in New York. Over 140 women, most of them young immigrants between 17 and 24, perished in the fire.
The UA is joining the celebrations to mark International Women's Day with a series of institutional, educational, and cultural activities that you can check out on this page.
