JGPU 2014 Conference
Fourth meeting of dissemination of scientific applications and computer graphics processors on vision
Conference on dissemination of scientific applications and computer graphics processors on vision
The big increase in the performance of graphics hardware, along with recent improvements in its programmability, have made such hardware a reference platform for the computationally demanding tasks in a wide variety of application domains. The last few years has grown interest in known collectively as GPGPU (general purpose graphics processing units)
The University of Alicante one attaches importance very relevant to the training of specialists in the use of GPUs (graphics processing units) not only for the acceleration of multimedia applications and computer games; but for the acceleration of scientific applications of all kinds (robotics, artificial vision, neural networks, medicine, physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, footwear, computer graphics and many others) and for that reason its training offer with subjects specific to engineers and also for the training of doctors is so rich.
This day aims to become a meeting Forum of our scientists, students and professionals through its development and consolidation in coming years. Also the goal of the workshops is starting programming GPUs giving an overview of the State of the art of programming these devices, as well as putting into practice these concepts about NVIDIA CUDA technology. To do so, will carry out the programming and execution of certain traditional algorithms and will compare completion times between the traditional paradigm of execution on the CPU and the new approach on GPGPU.
