The prestigious reviews "The Ophthalmologist" review in its latest issue which have been the principal investigators in recent years in the area of the cornea and Keratoconus. They are a top 15 of the most prolific scientific authors in that area. This list appears in number 5 our colleague, Dr David P. Piñero, sharing top 5 with researchers from the likes of Joseph Colin, Jorge Alió, George Kymionis or David Touboul. This means a recognition to several years of research in the field of Keratoconus

Researchers at the University of Alicante have developed a new software that will interpret the vision of people affected by alterations in the color vision. The technology, developed by the research group of optics and Visual perception of the UA, in collaboration with researchers of the Vision Group at the University of Valencia, is applicable in a variety of sectors, such as, graphic design, toy, accessibility, the selection of staff, human resources, and the field of Optometry.
The project, directed by Oftalmar, will help optimize surgery laser for the correction of miopic, hipermetropic and astigmatic subject.
In collaboration with the University of Valencia, we are conducting a study using a prototype of contrast sensitivity campimetro spatio-temporal (Campímetro ATD double modulation). We want to compare between a control population, with subjects that already have diabetic retinopathy diagnosed and another study, subjects who do not yet have but are diagnosed diabetes. We want to show that campimetro ATD clearly detects the Dr even before other Visual signs, as well as their temporal evolution. The comparison with a normal population will allow to evaluate the loss of contrast sensitivity are more pronounced at certain stage of pathology and its possible relationship with the later development of diabetic retinopathy. Previous results that we have obtained indicate that early detection is possible.
The software designed by Pablo Acevedo for a video signal processing to simulate the three types of dichromatism already you can download in the corresponding section. The project's report will be available shortly a video exampleand limit.
