The Classical Theatre Festival is an initiative of the University of Alicante that has been sponsored — so far — by the Valencian Institute of Culture, the City of Elche, the Mutua de Levante Foundation, the Alicante Provincial Council and the collaboration of the Miguel Hernández University, the Banco Sabadell Foundation and the Juan Gil Albert Institute of Culture. The event gathers around 1,500 people each July, who travel to La Alcudia to enjoy theatre, while also having the opportunity to visit and even have dinner in the archaeological site itself.
A magnificent experience to enjoy classical theatre on a real stage.
The doors of La Alcudia open at 8 pm, so that attendees have time to visit the site, the Interpretation Centre and the Monographic Museum, as well as to taste a “Roman snack” before the start of the work — 10 pm. The stage is the central area of %u200B%u200Bthe site — also called Roman forum — around which the grandstands are arranged with capacity for almost 400 people.
