El perfil de ingreso recomendado para cursar el Máster Universitario en Ciencia de Datos por la Universidad de Alicante es el de titulados/as (graduado/ a, licenciado/a, ingeniero/a) con competencias básicas en matemáticas, estadística y fundamentos de programación.
Los perfiles más adecuados corresponden a los siguientes titulados/as de Grado (o afín) así como superior (antiguos licenciados): Ingeniería Informática, Ingeniería Multimedia, Matemáticas.
According to the Regulations of the University of Alicante, the following requirements must be complied to have access to official taught Master’s degrees:
- To be in possession of a SPANISH OFFICIAL GRADUATE DEGREE CERTIFICATE or other issued by an institution of higher education within the EHEA (European Higher Education) that enables the holder to have access to Master’s degrees in the issuing.
- To be in possession of an officially approved FOREIGN HIGHER EDUCATION DEGREE CERTIFICATE that had been recognised as equal to the degree that allows access to the requested studies.
- To be in possession of a UNIVERSITY DEGREE CERTIFICATE obtained in a University or Higher Education Institution of COUNTRIES OUTSIDE THE EHEA, without the prior approval of their studies. In this case, the following should be considered:
- Non- recognised degree certificates shall require a technical report showing an equivalence statement issued by the University of Alicante (ContinUA – Continuing Education Centre), for which the corresponding fee should be paid.
- Access through this way does under no circumstances imply prior official approval of the holder’s degree certificate, nor its recognition for purposes other than studying a master's degree.
La Comisión Académica estará compuesta al menos por:
- El Coordinador o Coordinadora del máster universitario, que la preside.
- Un mínimo de tres miembros representantes del profesorado que imparte docencia en el máster universitario, elegidos entre y por el profesorado del máster universitario, procurando que estén representados los departamentos que intervienen en el plan de estudios.
- 1 representante del centro proponente.
- 1 representante del alumnado, que será elegido cada año entre y por el alumnado del máster universitario.
- 1 representante de las empresas y/o instituciones cuando se contemplen prácticas externas. Será propuesto por el Coordinador o Coordinadora del máster universitario, oídas las empresas y/o instituciones.
- 1 miembro del PAS para cuestiones relacionadas con la gestión administrativa del máster universitario.
Los criterios de selección en los que se basará la Comisión Académica de Máster serán:
- La admisión será directa en los siguientes casos:
- Quienes estén en posesión del título de Grado en Ingeniería Informática.
- Quienes estén en posesión del título de Grado en Ingeniería Multimedia.
- Quienes estén en posesión del título de Grado en Matemáticas.
- Quienes estén en posesión de un título de Ingeniero/Licenciado en Informática o Matemáticas correspondiente a anteriores ordenaciones de las enseñanzas universitarias.
- Para todas aquellas personas que cumplan con el criterio anterior se procederá a considerar la media del expediente académico con el fin de establecer un orden de las solicitudes. En caso de existir un número mayor de solicitudes que de plazas, se utilizará la citada ordenación.
Para quienes acrediten una titulación distinta a las relacionadas anteriormente, corresponderá a la Comisión Académica del Máster valorar su aceptación en función del perfil académico y/o profesional del candidato, garantizando siempre que el alumnado tiene las competencias mínimas necesarias de Matemáticas y Programación para poder cursar las asignaturas del máster.
Students who intend to study for an officially recognised Master’s Degree at the UA should complete pre-enrolment in accordance with the guidelines and deadlines specified annually.
Pre-registration will be exclusively carried out online by filling in the form available for this purpose.

Please note that you will need the reference number of your last pre- registration, which was sent to you in a confirmation email for this purpose.
Following publication of the final list of those admitted to the course, an email containing a user password will be sent to successful applicants, enabling them to enrol via the Campus Virtual in accordance with the guidelines and deadlines specified annually.
In the registration process, the documents issued abroad must be official, duly notorised and translated. Further information:
- Recognition is understood as the acceptance of credits -by a university- which have been obtained in official courses, in the same university or a different one and counted for the purpose of obtaining an official degree. Likewise, credits taken in other official higher education courses or in university courses leading to the awarding of other degrees, as referred to in Article 34.1 of Organic Law 4/2007, of 12 April, which modifies Organic Law 6/2001, of 21 December, on Universities, may be recognised.
- Accredited work and professional experience may be recognised as credits for the student’s official degree, provided that they are related to their degree content.
- The transfer of credits refers to the credits that do not led to the awarding of an official degree and have been added to the student’s record and official academic documents accrediting the courses passed by each student previously, in the same university or a different one. The transfer of credits requires the prior admission of the student to the corresponding degree.
- The modules, subjects or courses transferred to the student’s academic record corresponding to the new undergraduate degrees will not be taken into account for the calculation of the point-system assessment.
- In the case of simultaneous studies, the credits therefor achieved will not be transferred, unless they are eligible for recognition or the student renounces to such simultaneity due to the student’s withdrawal from the studies.
Master’s credit recognition
- At the discretion of the relevant Master’s Academic Committee, provided for in Article 20, credits from official courses taken in this or other universities may be recognised for as long as they are related to the Master’s degree for which credits are eligible for recognition.
- Likewise, students who have completed partial PhD studies within the framework of the provisions of Royal Decree 778/1998 or previous regulations may request recognition of credits corresponding to courses taken during the teaching period of these PhD degrees.
- Recognition must be requested to the Committee for Credit Recognition and Transfers and Academic Records Assessment of each university centre. The committee, where appropriate due to the complexity of credit recognition, may request the advice of the Academic Committee of the relevant Master's degree.
- Admission and registration rules and instructions will establish the procedure and the documentation to be submitted for the application for credit recognition.
Credit recognition for undergraduate, Master’s and PhD degrees
Recognition of credits obtained in official studies according to previous university regulations:
In the case of credits obtained in UA official degrees regulated by the Royal Decree 1497/1987, the recognition is achieved taking into account the table for credit adjustment of those degrees regulated by Royal Decree 1393/2007 and the Royal Decree 861/2010 to be included in each report required to apply for the verification of the University of Alicante degree.
In the case of credits obtained from other official degrees, they can be recognised by adapting the knowledge associated to subjects or courses taken by the student and those included in the study programmes meeting the following criteria:
- that the number of credits, or where appropriate hours, is at least 75% of the number of credits or hours of the subjects for which credit recognition is requested, and
- obtain, at least, 75% of the content of the subjects for which credit recognition is sought.
Recognition of the credits obtained from the study programmes in force and non-official degrees:
Credits can be recognised taking into account the adjustment of the skills and knowledge acquired by the student from other modules, subjects and courses and from those included in the study programmes or cross-curricular courses that meet the following criteria:
- that the number of credits is at least 75% of the number of credits of the subjects for which credit recognition is requested.
- that contain, at least, 75% of the content of the subjects for which credit recognition is requested.
- that confer at least 75% of the skills of the subjects for which credit recognition is requested.
As for undergraduate degrees, the recognition of credits must also meet the following criteria:
- If the undergraduate degree to which the student intends to gain access belongs to the same branch of knowledge, the credits corresponding to core subjects of that branch are eligible for recognition, with the original name, credits and mark.
- If the undergraduate degree to which the student intends to gain access belongs to a branch of knowledge other than the original, the credits corresponding to core subjects of that new branch are also eligible for recognition.
- In any case, the credits corresponding to the final-year undergraduate project and the Master's final project cannot be recognised.
Recognition of previous work and/or professional experience:
- Accredited work and professional experience can be also recognised with credits that will count towards obtaining an official degree, provided that they confer at least 75% of the competences of the subjects eligible for credit recognition.
To be taken into account:
The number of credits allocated to work or professional experience and to non-official university studies cannot exceed, as a whole, 15 % of the total credits making up the curriculum. The recognition of those credits cannot be counted for the purpose of the student’s point-system assessment.
Notwithstanding the above, credits from UA-only degrees may, exceptionally, be subject to recognition in a higher percentage or, where appropriate, be subject to recognition in their entirety provided that the corresponding UAdegree has been phased out and replaced by an official degree.
Recognition of credits in mobility programmes:
Students who participate in national or international mobility programmes signed by the University of Alicante, while studying in other higher education institutions, will obtain full recognition by means of a learning agreement established before their departure. Likewise, credits completed through official courses regulated by inter-university agreements will be recognised if they specifically state so. In both cases, a report from the Centre or University Commissions will not be necessary, as such recognition is subject to a prior agreement.
