Objectives & career options

General objectives

The objectives of the Master’s Degree course are threefold:

  • To acquire a high degree of academic specialisation in the linguistic discipline of English for specific purposes (ESP).
  • To acquire a high degree of academic specialisation in the linguistic discipline of Spanish for specific purposes (SSP).
  • To acquire the knowledge, theories, linguistic models and techniques necessary to undertake applied linguistics research in languages for specific purposes (ESP and SSP).

Due to the two directions, academic and research, offered by this Master’s Degree, the general profile for English and Spanish for Specific Purposes consists of two specialisation profiles:

  1. Profile 1 (P1): A high degree of academic specialisation in English and Spanish for specific purposes.
  2. Profile 2 (P2): Introduction to interdisciplinary research in the field of languages for specific purposes (English and Spanish for specific purposes).
