What are the regulations on continuation of studies for undergraduate degree students?
The main provisions set forth in the regulations on continuation of studies for undergraduate degrees are as follows:
Students must pass a minimum number of subjects every year to continue their studies.
It is compulsory to register for subjects pending from past academic years.
In order to be able to register for more advanced courses, students must have already passed all subjects from previous years, or at least be registered for them.
Students are allowed to register for a subject a maximum of three times. Exceptionally, a fourth registration opportunity might be granted. If a student fails to pass a subject after said three attempts are consumed, no further attempts will be granted, and it will not be possible to complete the degree. The former rules limiting the times that a student was allowed to sit an exam has been changed into a limitation on the times that a student can register for the same subject.
"Part-time registration" is aimed at students who must/wish to continue studying with a lower class load.
Continuation of studies generally requires high academic performance to be achieved by students.
Part-time registration allows students who have a job and students with lower academic performance to continue studying with a lower class load.
How many subjects must students pass every year to continue studying an undergraduate degree?
New undergraduate students must pass at least 12 ECTS credits (two subjects) in other to continue studying, unless they can provide proof of the reason behind their low academic performance.NIf they do not pass the minimum credits, students will have to give up their studies, and wait two years before they can resume them.
Students who continue studying at the UA, and those who change degrees and get some subjects validated must pass 30% of the credits they register for, unless they jan provide proof of the reason behind their low academic performance. This is not applicable to students who are 60 ECTS credits or less away from degree completion.
A warning will be sent to students who fail to comply with the regulations on continuation of studies , and they will be allowed to register only once again. By the same token, they will be notified that if they fail to comply with these regulations again, they will be expelled (by order of the Vice President for Students).
