What is the "cross curricular competence" of the University of Alicante?
Students taken new undergraduate studies at the University of Alicante, should prove their cross curricular competence (common for all study programmes) in order to obtained their degree. These skills are called "cross curricular competence".
The cross curricular competence that students at the University of Alicante should acquire are the following:
Competence in a foreign language.
Competence in computer and information.
Competence in oral and written communication.
Competence in a foreign language should be proved before registering in the final year's work. Within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, B1 level is the minimum required and B2 level is recommendable.
This accreditation can be made by obtaining certificates of knowledge of language level issued by recognized institutions, for language studies taught by the Official Language Schools or by passing the European language courses taught by the University of Alicante's Advance Language Centre, where UA students can be benefitted with a reduced fee if they passed the course.
The other cross curricular competences should be included within the different subjects of the study programme, which should be prepared and assessed. Full details on which modules and subjects will be taken to acquire these competences and how they will be assessed will be given in the realization of each study programme.
