On 27 November 2015 the University of Alicante Governing Council approved the Learning Assessment Regulations (Official Journal of the University of Alicante 9/12/2015) on assessment procedures, assessment criteria, mark allocation criteria, syllabi, examination sessions, mark publication, exam review and claim procedures (if applicable), as well as record filing and modification.
These regulations adapt teaching programming criteria to the continuous assessment system implemented with the current official UA degrees, and also gather and update previous regulations.
The main measures are as follows:

"Curriculum adaptation" is a series of academic and technical actions which can be carried out in order to facilitate students' access, stay and maximum progress during the academic year.
Applications for curriculum adaptation will be processed according to confidentiality and privacy principles.
Students who can apply for curriculum adaptation are divided in two groups:
Applications for curriculum adaptation will be submitted two weeks before the beginning of the academic year or term. Applications submitted outside these two periods due to unforeseen circumstances will be exceptionally admitted.
Applications from students in the first group will be submitted to the Student Support Centre, and the ones from the second group will go to the corresponding centre (faculties/polytechnic school).
There are two levels of curriculum adaptation:
"Course descriptions" include the follow information that will be published before registration periods and cannot be modified, unless in the event of force majeure circumstances.
You can read Course Descriptions on the UA's home website within the section"Study Programmes"
Final exams calendars are drawn up and published by the centres (faculties/schools) before the registration periods and they cannot be modified.
Final exams calendars are normally provided on the centres' web pages. They are also announced on UACloud, and the exam date for each subject is shown on the "assessment" section of the "Course description".
Final exams periods will be laid down on the academic calendar.
In accordance with Royal Decree 1125/2003, which provided the credit and grading systems for degrees in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), Learning Assessment Regulations (Art.8) establish the following grading criteria for official UA degrees.
For credits completed through validation, the original grade will be kept.
Credits completed through free-elective activities will be graded as PASS and will be taken into account for GPA calculation purposes.
If a subject is passed by means of "curriculum assessment by mark compensation", Mark Compensation (5) will be granted.
Marks of either midterms or final exams will be published on the subjects' UACloud section.
Once the final mark for each subject is final, it will be included on the students' academic record available at UACloud.
Students are entitled to review the mark obtained in any assessment activities, according to art. 167.6 of theUniversity of Alicante Statutes.
Assessment criteria will be public and objective and will be made known before the registration periods begin. The teaching staff of each subject will include these criteria on the "assessment" section of each "Course description".
During tutorial hours, lecturers should offer students appropriate explanations (if requested) about the assessment of their progress in order to identify their errors and improve the teaching and learning process.
For final exams:
This is a special assessment test that can be granted to Undergraduate or Master's Degree students who only have two subjects (maximum) plus their Final Year Project left to finish.
Students should request this during registration; the special resit's date will be established in the annual academic calendar (October-November).
Assessment criteria will be the same as the year before.
Students who apply for a special resit and do not pass it, can only sit the regular examination session in that academic year.
Special resits have replaced the former December Resits.
This is a procedure whereby undergraduate and master's students who meet a specific set of requirements can apply for favourable assessment of the last remaining subject to finish their degree. Said requirements are:
Mark compensation can be granted only once, and students cannot reapply for compensation in any other degrees taught at the University of Alicante. Credit compensation will not be granted to students from other universities that have already been granted compensation. Only one subject can be compensated, and the number of credits must not be higher than 9. Credit compensation will not be granted to students who have a disciplinary record or have been penalised for serious misconduct either.
A written application for "Mark compensation" may be submitted to the General Records and addressed to the University President. Applications can be sent within 15 calendar days after the deadlines for records' filling out and submission as established in the academic calendar for each assessment period.
Whenever compensation is granted, the subject will be marked as "Mark compensation 5".
Students from the old plan can also apply for "Curriculum assessment by compensation of marks" if they meet the above-mentioned requirements. Regulations on "Curriculum assessment by compensation of marks" for students from the old study plan.
Transcripts of records are official documents, and issuance fee is €28 approximately.
There are two main types of transcripts of records:
Official transcripts of records can also include university access information, first-cycle data, degree information, or other details that the student might need and are included in their academic record.
All transcripts of records have the same price. Transcripts of records to apply for large family certificate renewal are free of charge.
Students must request official transcripts directly at the Secretary's Office in their faculty. They can also do it trough UACloud, section "e-Administration".
