They are specific tests to access university degrees for candidates over 25 years old (Organic Act on Education, Art. 69.6).
In accordance with this article, Royal Decree 412/2014 ( Chapter IV. Royal Decree 412/2014 ( Cap. IV. Sec. 1), regulates Admission tests for people over 25 throughout Spain by establishing the requirements and structure of the tests, the universities where they will take place, the assessment criteria, and the organisation rules.
Within the Region of Valencia, tests for students over 25 are regulated by the Regional Department of Education which, besides the general questions, includes an annex with the subjects' syllabi.
The admission tests for people over 25 take place simultaneously in all public Valencian universities, and the same tests are used throughout the region.
Students who pass the admission tests can apply for a place through the university pre-registration procedure. Places will be assigned according to the university's quota for students over 25, which cannot be lower than 2% of places offered for each degree.
In accordance with the annual regulations on pre-registration procedures in the Region of Valencia, the specific quota for degrees taught by Valencian universities is normally 3%.

Students who do not meet the conditions for university admission and are either 25 years old or older on the year the tests will take place will be allowed to sit the tests.

The structure of the admission tests for the universities in the Region of Valencia is as follows:
The aim of the general phase is to assess the candidates' maturity and capacity to succeed within a certain degree, as well as their reasoning capacity and their writing skills. It consists of three tests (+ Valencian test in the universities of the Region of Valencia).
The aim of the specific phase is to assess the candidates' skills, capacities and abilities to successfully study an undergraduate degree on any of the fields of study offered by Spanish universities.
The specific phase is structured into five options linked to the five fields of study. Students must take two subjects.

Students must choose the path that is the Undergraduate Degree they wish to access is assigned to. Students can take two options simultaneously.
The structure of the Admission tests is regulated by Royal Decree 412/2014 ( Art. 12 ). The Regional Department of Education of the Region of Valencia regulates the planning of the Admission tests for students over 25, decides on the structure of the specific phase, and lays down the syllabi and assessment criteriafor each subject.
Successful candidates must apply for a place through the ordinary university pre-registration procedure.
Royal Decree 412/2014 ( Art.12.6 ) provides that students who register to sit the admission tests in a specific university will have preferencial rights when it comes to spot allocation in that same university.
Within the Region of Valencia, students over 25 who pass the test in a Valencian public university can apply for a spot in any other Valencian university on the same terms as any other student.
The Spanish Distance Education University (UNED) accepts students over 25 who have passed the admission test in any public university.
Admission tests are held just once per academic year (normally in May) Only public universities can organise admission tests.
Successful candidates can re-sit the tests in order to improve their marks and/or take another pathway, even when they are already studying a degree.
Passing the admission tests for students over 25 allows to apply for a place in an official Undergraduate Degree, preferential admission rights being granted in the university where the tests were taken, and with preferential admission rightsbeing granted for the undergraduate degrees included in the test pathway chosen by the candidate. In the Region of Valencia, students can sit the tests in the university they wish, and will be granted the same preferential admission rights in all Valencian universities.
Applications are made through the university pre-registration procedure for students over 25, which cannot account for less than 2% of the places offered.
Solely for the purposes of admission to public or private employment, Passing the Admission tests for students over 25 will be equivalent to the certificate of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) and the certificate of Upper Secondary Education. In this case, the equivalence will be granted to students who a) hold the certificate of Compulsory Secondary Education, or b) when they have completed at least 15 ECTS from a university degree. Passing the admission tests for students over 25 allows students to access Vocational Education studies –Lower (secondary) vocational education programme and Upper-secondary vocational education programme– without sitting the specific admission tests for these studies.
The University of Alicante organises a career guidance day to prepare the admission tests for students over 25.
Guidance sessions take place on Friday afternoons from mid-October until mid-March. Registration is open in early October.
The career guidance day is organised in collaboration with Adult Learning Centres.
The guidance day includes sessions about study techniques, how to use UACloud, and six work sessions for each subject.
Places are limited and assigned by registration order. Price is approximately €60.
Adult Learning Centres organise preparation courses. These centres are public and depend on the Regional Department of Education of the Valencia Region Government..
