What is a University Identity Card (UIC) and how do I get one?
The UIC is the University of Alicante ID card, which is issued for all members of the university community. The UIC is proof that someone is a member of the university community.
Generally speaking, students, research and academic staff, service and administration staff, research fellows, Lifelong Learning Programme students and former students who are a member of the Alumni Association can request a UIC.
Besides serving as ID, the UIC provides access to university services such as libraries, computers and sports facilities among others, and entitles the holder to special discounts.
New students must request their UIC at the corresponding card issuance room after completing their registration.
Research and academic staff, as well as service and administration staff, can request the cards through UACloud once they have signed their contract or been appointed for a position within the UA. The rest of groups must request the UIC at the corresponding administrative office.
UIC issuance is done in collaboration with Banco Santander.
Requests for a duplicate of a UIC on account of loss or theft must be done through the UIC Office (Tel. 965909404).
UIC is automatically renewed after expiry (in October and November) and a new card is sent to the holder's address, as long as he/she is still a member of the University of Alicante.
Students will pay €5.87 for issuance and maintenance of their university card.
Access to sports facilities by paying the university member price.
Use of computers in IT rooms.
University cards allow UA members to benefit from special discounts in companies and institutions.
The UIC can be requested at UA offices and services as ID of a university community member. It can also be requested by other institutions in order to identify a person as a university member and allow access to economic aid or discounts, student cards, youth cards, etc. For any questions about the UIC, please contact theUniversity Identity Card Management Unit.
