Signage is the part of the visual communication which examines the functional relationships between signs for orientation in space and the behavior of individuals.
Applies to the service of people, to guide them in space and approaching a specific place, for better and faster access to required services and greater security in the movements and actions.
At the UA, there is a flow of people from backgrounds and very different socio-cultural levels, which may be staff au PAS (PDI), students, visitors of the broader spectrum and physical conditions, etc. But this movement of people has the character of circumstantial; This implies that the individual be found with new situations of organization and morphology of space which will cause problems in their development therefore emerging a need for information and guidance.
Signaling is a form of guide within the UA for the individual to a specific place that quietly draws their attention and gives the required information in the form Instant and universal.
The University of Alicante has chosen a typeface and chromatic contrasts that allow a rapid readability. Appear indispensable data with the lowest possible shantytowns. Clarity and synthesis. Only the accurate information in the right place, i.e., information ergonomics.
Our signage system is able to grow and change without losing identity, adding new informational subsystems. It separates and joins at the same time in the environment, without modifying them, to be recognized and visualized.
The design señalético of our University program, has followed a method and a formula that organizes the successive steps and procedures in an orderly and comprehensive, covering not only the requirements immediately but preventing their adaptability to future needs.
The design of the program señalético of the University of Alicante has meant in the first place, the design of simple elements, that is, signs (pictograms), words, colours and basic forms of the soporetes of the inscription signage. Secondly, the structural pattern is invisible support which holds all the information, so that each message is part of a same structural order.
The elements taken into account are:
Typography: according to the morphology of space, distance of vision, our brand image and corporate identity program.
Pictograms: taking as a point of departure the Repertoire of usable pictograms, it has proceeded to the selection of the relevant from the point of view semantic (meaning unique), syntactic (formal and stylistic unity)
Colour code: the selection of colors is reduced to the minimum number of combinations. The color coding allows you to differentiate and identify buildings. In this case, the color is a factor of integration in the signage and the working environment.
