Ana Romero, Elena García, María Ángeles Pino have been called up to the Spanish Women's National 5-a-Side Football Team, and Rocío Gómez to the U21 squad.
Our players will be at the Ciudad del Fútbol sports complex between 13 and 15 December. Both teams will play a training game against each other.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities
Today, 3 December, is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. On this day and on the other 364 days of the year, the University of Alicante works to promote and facilitate adaptive sports among individuals and groups.
Today, the University of Alicante has hosted an event to support the elimination of homophobia in sport. During the event, a document was read and sealed whereby our institution joined the La Liga Arcoíris initiative and UA team members posed wearing captain armbands with the colours of the rainbow.
Starting this week, all teams within the University of Alicante's Federated Sports Section have a new name and logo/crest. Launched by the Office of the Vice President for Culture, Sport and Languages, this initiative establishes a single official name, which from now on will be “Universitat d’Alacant” for all teams.
We are pleased to introduce the new women's five-a-side football team of the UA. One more year, the team will compete in the Royal Spanish Football Federation's DHF Women's Five-a-Side Football League, first division.
On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women last weekend, the UA women's five-a-side football, volleyball and junior volleyball gathered at the centre of the court in support of victims of gender-based violence, with a banner reading "N1+" (Not even one more woman).
